This is the first in a series of three articles about the Seven Chakras and their effect on the success we create in our lives.

Chakras are circular vortexes of energy that flow through each of us. They control our emotions and desires and they have an influence on the strengths and weaknesses of every area of our lives. Starting from the tail bone, and moving up the body to the crown of our head, each of our seven Chakras work in tandem and each relies on the other to create all-round well-being.

By understanding and strengthening our seven chakras, it is possible to take more control of some of the challenges in the different areas of our lives. The following is a description of each of the Chakras and an explanation of the area of your life that each controls.

The Root Chakra

The first of our seven chakras is the Root Chakra. Located at the base of your spine, the first chakra influences our decisions as they relate to our career and money matters. A strong root chakra, which draws energy from the earth can help us succeed at work and be prosperous financially and improve our grounding, focusing and centring.

The Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra is located in the lower abdomen and is the energy centre of sexuality and pleasure. You know when the second of the seven chakras is glowing because you are indulging in passionate sex several times a week even when you have a busy schedule or if you have been with your partner for many years.

The Personal Power Chakra

The third of the seven chakras is located above the navel and influences our self-esteem. When your personal power chakra is strong it will be demonstrated by an unwavering confidence and the ability to think clearly and make the right decision even in the toughest situations. The personal power Chakra is self-energizing and can recharge and lend extra energy to other chakras and improve other areas of your well being.

The Heart Chakra

Our Heart Chakra as you may guess is located in the centre of our chest. Its energies are water and calming and the fourth chakra which soothes and relaxes is in charge of influencing our relationships. A strong heart chakra will lead to loving and generous relationships and will allow us to use empathy to solve any dispute amicably.

The Throat Chakra

Our true voice comes from our throat chakra that influences our self-expression. Named for its location in the body the fifth of our seven chakras is responsible for our ability to voice our ideas and emotions clearly. Strong communication skills come with a strong throat chakra that allows us to speak the truth, even if it may be uncomfortable to some.

The Intuitive Chakra

Located in the centre of the forehead, our intuitive chakra promotes creative and independent thought. When the sixth of our seven chakras is strong we are able to make intuitive decisions. You may not know why or how but a strong intuitive chakra lets you trust your gut feelings to solve problems and creates a clear sense of direction in your life.

The Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra that influences our connection to source is located at the top of our head. Regardless of your personal beliefs, the seventh chakra is divine consciousness and allows us to feel connected to a higher power. You will recognize a strong crown chakra because you will have a great appreciation and gratitude and a strong sense of love for yourself and others. The seventh Chakra, which controls your divine consciousness is very empowering.

Using this basic knowledge, we can look at the circumstances in our life to determine whether our seven chakras are open or they are weak and even closed. You will also gain an understanding of how to improve any physical or mental issues in your life by focusing on strengthening your seven chakras.
